First you crumb coat the cake. Then you knead the fondant and roll it out. After it's all rolled out nice and even you put the cake on a lazy susan and drape the fondant over it. All that's left is to shape it around the cake.
This happened with all of the levels. We were all pretty concerned about the cake looking unbalanced because of the sharp white top and the bottom levels being red. Sheila added some white spheres to help tie it together. She also got some gel stuff to add some texture to the stark white top.
It still need something to tie it all together so she added a band of white and then put on the zebra strips. The final product was this.
